IntroductionIf you have been baptized, you're already a member of the church. Being part of a particular United Methodist congregation means placing your name officially on its rolls. If you have not been baptized, we will be happy to help you arrange it. In attending Hayesville First, our hope is that you will be welcomed and given the feeling that you belong, but not feel pressured to join a particular mission or help out with a church program. Many persons, especially those returning to church after a time away, appreciate the opportunity to "hide in the pews" for a bit. Although worship is the central focus of life at Hayesville First, really belonging to a church means getting involved at some level. Take your time, see what interests you, and join in when you are ready. Youth gatherings every Sunday from 5pm to 7pm in the Youth area. Join us (and invite a friend) as we have lots of fun, learn about how God is alive and working in our lives and get to know one another. Hope to see you soon! Myra and Jason BACK TO THE TOP OF THE PAGESunday ServiceWorship is the fundamental focus of church life, serving to deepen our relationship with God in common purpose and dedication to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Hayesville First Methodist offers two Sunday morning worship experiences - both similar in their aims but distinctive in their presentations. Communion is served the first Sunday of each month and December 24th at the Christmas Eve Service. Both Sunday Services reach out to youngsters with a children's mini-sermon toward the beginning of the service. Children leave for children's church after the children's sermon at 11:00am . We then focus on thoughtful preaching, linking the Scriptures to our living Christianity in the world today. 8:30 a.m. Sunday ServiceThis service is for early risers and is quite popular. Selected Choir members perform duets, trio's and octet sacred music. 11:00 a.m. Sunday ServiceThis service is more traditional and formal, beginning with a procession of the acolytes and choir members and featuring sacred music from the organ, piano and Chancel Choir. BACK TO THE TOP OF THE PAGEChancel ChoirHayesville First Methodist is a singing church, and choral and instrumental music are of central importance to worship. Anthems range from contemporary, jazz, Latin beat, spirituals and southern gospel to classical themes keeping to the Lectionary scriptures of the day. To serve the diverse spiritual and musical interests of the congregation, the two Sunday services offer distinctive musical offerings. The format of each service, the style of music, and the congregational participation varies according to the focus of the day. If you like to sing and want to join us, we are always looking for new choir members.
